MEDICARE
Medicare hospital insurance (Part A) provides basic protection against costs of needed care in
a hospital, skilled nursing facility, at home and for hospice care.Inquiries regarding
edicare Part A claims can be made by calling 1-877-356-2368.
Medicare medical insurance (Part B) provides protection against costs of physicians’ and
providers’ services. The monthly premium is $93.50 for 2007. Inquiries about Medicare Part
B claims can be made by calling 1-800-482-5525.
Rhode Island General Law 5-37-5.1 prohibits physicians from charging Medicare patients more
than the amount Medicare approves for covered services.
Apply for Medicare at Social Security three months before turning age 65.

Beneficiaries can also create a personal health care profile by logging on to
the My Health. My Medicare link on the Medicare web site.
