Many Rhode Island cities and towns offer some type of property tax relief to their older residents who meet age, income and residency requirements. Inquire at your city or town hall.

Applications for the Rhode Island Property Tax Relief (Form RI1040-H) Program must be filed between January 1 and April 15. Rhode Island resident homeowners and renters with household incomes under $30,000 may receive up to $300.

The AARP Tax Aide program provides information and assistance with completing tax returns between February and April 15 at numerous sites around the state. Call the DEA Customer Information Referral and Assistance Center at 462-3000 (Voice/TTY) or 462-0740 (TTY) to get a list of AARP tax assistance sites.
