Crossroads Rhode Island is the largest homeless services organization in the state. They provide assistance 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for a broad spectrum of Rhode Islanders.

Crossroads Rhode Island works to solve both the immediate and long-term needs of people in desperate situations, and is committed to preserving individual dignity and respect for all people, at all times. For years, Crossroads has been located at 177 Union Street in downtown Providence. Later this year (2004), the organization will move a short distance to the former YMCA building at 160 Broad Street.

Core services of Crossroads Rhode Island are:

Crisis Intervention
Emergency shelter, food, clothing, and transportation; prescriptions; long-distance contacts.

Counseling
Counseling related to individual, family, housing, employment, education, medical, substance abuse, and mental health issues.

Case Management
A coordinated system of services based or the needs of each client, which establishes goals and achievement dates agreed upon by client and social worker.

Outreach
Reaching out to youth and adults on the streets of downtown Providence and other Rhode Island cities, who are homeless, runaway youth who have been sexually exploited or in crisis and at risk. Providing a safe haven, crisis intervention, and social services.

Respite Services
Community room for food, beverages, and shelter from the elements. Laundry and shower facilities also available. Open 24 hours a day.

Information and Referral
Our Helpline responds to calls in English, Spanish, and Portuguese from throughout the state. Immediate crisis intervention and social service referral. We also maintain a 24-hour Safeline for runaway youths and a Gamblers Hotline.
